Problem of violence against girls with disabilities in the commune of Abomey Calavi (Benin)

Abstract

Like several countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Benin is a country where gender inequalities still persist. These inequalities sometimes reveal themselves in the form of violence against girls and women. It is a phenomenon that still plagues society despite the creation of a legal and institutional framework. Indeed, inequalities are doubly common among girls with disabilities because of their vulnerability. For this research, the approach used is essentially qualitative. It aims to analyze the problem of violence against girls with disabilities in the commune of Abomey-Calavi. To achieve this objective, documentary research and interviews with resource persons were used as data collection techniques. Thus, fifteen people were interviewed according to four categories of actors: girls with disabilities, protection actors, municipal authorities and parents. The
